Kuro Obi Dojo
Sensei Glenn Richards
6th Dan Black Belt
At an age of 10 he started in Taekwondo, before his instructor moved and closed the school. However, this cemented his martial art interest and in 1990 started training in Shito-Ryu Karate-Do. Studiing the teachings of Kenei Mabuni and was certified to Black Belt in 1995.
After spending a number of years competing in local, state, national and international events, Sensei Glenn discovered that he preferred the more traditional aspects of karate. His pursuit for knowledge, saw him travel to Japan and Singapore on several occasions to train with Sensei Mabuni, during which was also introduced to the Bo/staff, which raised his interest in weapons.
After Sensei Mabuni’s passing, Sensei Glenn continued to train, and in 2017, met Sensei Dominic Sculli who agreed to take him on as a student in the Shito-Ryu Karate-Do International organisation.
Sensei Glenn founded the Kuro Obi Karate Dojo in 2020.
